About Us

Picture of a temple in Bhaktapur, where most Nepalese handicrafts were invented.

Namaste and welcome to Junkiri.

We are so excited to have you here.

We are a Nepalese-Italian couple and we are the founders of this magical reality.

I am Alice, a little hippie born and raised in the Italian Alps .

The other half of this project (and also my other half) is Bikesh, born and raised in the country with the highest mountains in the world, Nepal.

We decided to start this adventure when we traveled to Nepal for the first time together.

We spent nearly 2 months there surrounded by beauty, smiles and this inexplicable mystical energy that was spreading from each and every corner.

The majority of our time was spent in Kathmandu valley, where Bikesh is from. When you visit Kathmandu, you are in close contact with pure beauty, from the Newari architecture, to the hundreds of temples placed literally everywhere, from the wood artisans' strength to the pottery craftsmen's soft movements.

We thought that we wanted to be part of that beauty, mainly for two reasons:

-one was that we needed to share this beauty and show it to the world, because it was too beautiful to remain unknown.

-one was because we wanted to do our small part in this world and give something back to Nepal and its people, creating a sort of micro-economy.

Therefore, we started looking for local artisans and small family businesses and we began a collaboration with these incredibly talented people.

The core values of our project are uniqueness, fair trade, sustainability, slow fashion with a hippie and boho flair.

This is how Junkiri was born. We chose this name because it means "Firefly" in Nepalese. There is something magical about fireflies. They take you to a timeless world. They are little sparkles of beauty, just like the products we produce with love and dedication, with the help of our artisans.
